We are off to see the Wizards..

.. The Wonderful WizardS of Trentham Gardens.

Its thursday night, I am getting “stuff” together and on Friday we will be heading North to see the boys and girls of the BFFI mob. Oh and getting set up ready for my 25 hour tying marathon.

It’s for charity you know. A brilliant charity that supports breast cancer sufferers through fly fishing. This is my third year trying to get money to help their cause and this year is even more pertinent. My mother had breast cancer 10 years ago and the hospitals sorted it out. Then it came back as Lymphedema this March with another tumour and sadly there is nothing that can be done for mom this time around. So she is at home and we are waiting for the inevitable to happen. When that will be we don’t know but I can only praise the quality of care she is getting right now from the doctors, nurses and carer’s of Powys NHS trust.
So there you go. If you are at the BFFI this weekend come and throw some money in the pot, buy a cake (VERY VERY SCRUMSHUSH) or buy a raffle ticket for one of over 50 prizes. All the money goes to Casting for Recovery and I would love to give them a big fat cheque please.

See you up with the Wizards

New Prize from Dave Lindsey

Dave is a Pro-team member of the Deer Creek Crew and specialises in pike flies. VERY VERY NICE pike flies.

And he has donated over 30 to the prize fund for the raffle at the BFFI. Thanks Dave and I hope you and Deer Creek get along famously sir.

Deer Creek owner Nick Wright is supporting my efforts again this year and I am very grateful to him for that. I might even have some of Deer Creeks very good tying materials at the show to play with. To check what Deer Creek do that’s different to other companies check them out at the pretty yellow smiley –>> ;-)

Thanks to one and all for your support

Cheers

AUCTION

Just a note to let you know that a fantastic item is coming up for auction this week with all the money going to Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland.

It’s a fantastic set of flies tied, framed and donated to me by Steve Wilkinson. Steve’s tying pedigree is impeccable and you can meet him at the British Fly Fair this month when he ties a few with me on the Classic Fly Art stand.

The frame will be appearing on Ebay this week on the 21st of October and I am hoping to get LOTS of cash for this very very deserving cause. It will go to the final total I am aiming towards which is £3k. We are well on our way but don’t stop supporting it now folks.

SO check back on the 21st for a link to the Ebay Charity auction of this years FINEST item and let’s be seeing some serious bids eh?

Cheers

Unadulterated Begging

I know it’s already been asked but I thought damn it I will ask again.
I am not asking for sponsorship this year just asking people to buy ONE raffle ticket costing £2 sterling with all the proceeds going to one of the small minority charities that work their butts off to bring a bit of relief to women that have had or still have breast cancer. It costs around £6000 to run a retreat for 2 1/2 days with all the staff that help out doing it for free.
All the participants have to do is get to the venue. EVERYTHING is taken care of.

Accommodation, food, tackle, mentoring, doctors, physios, fishing tackle, venue, food, and most of all fun in a safe environment.

These people deserve our support.
PLEASE HELP ME HELP THEM

Thanks

Oh and the link to the tickets is here on the right >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Frame for AUCTION

Steve Wilkinson is a star. He contacted me and offered a”frame of flies for your 24 hour thing” and I of course said yes please. Well Steve sent me a photo of the frame and whilst it was ok it wasnt giving any idea of just how good the frame was.

So yesterday I got the frame and I have to say it is just stunning. The frame is a full set of the flies from a book by Edmond and Lee called Brook and River Trouting published in 1916 and contains 38 wet flies and spider patterns. The flies are tied as you would expect of a winner of Fly-Fishing and Fly-Tying magazine’s tying competition in the masters division on a couple of occasions. Perfectly. And to top it off they are all tied with the correct materials collected by Steve over a few years. Feathers like Dotterell and Corncrake to name two. Incredible. So my decision along with Steve’s blessing is to auction the frame off. It’s a one of a kind item to be fought over tooth and nail to make sure you win it. So how much would you pay for an item of this quality? Not to mention the pedigree?

It will go to auction probably on Ebay for a week  commencing Friday the 22nd of October with all the money going into the pot for the final amount payable to Casting for Recovery. Dont forget I would like to raise £3000 for the girls this year and there is a looooooooong way to go yet.

Here is a pic for your delectation. Now go find the cheque book folks !!
